WILLS FOR NON-MUSLIMS ➢

DIFC WILLS

The Dubai International Financial Centre Courts Wills Registry for Non-Muslims (“DIFC Wills Registry”) is a dedicated registry established for the sole purpose of handling probate related matters for non-Muslims. A DIFC Will is a last Will and Testament registered with the DIFC and can cover assets located in all seven Emirates in the UAE. A DIFC Will ensures that UAE Shariah law will not be applied to the estate of a non-Muslim.

TYPES OF DIFC WILLS

The DIFC operates under a common law framework and the principle of testamentary disposition is followed under the DIFC Wills and Probate Registry Rules. Once a probate order is issued by the DIFC Court, it is capable of being enforced across UAE without the need for further legal action through the UAE local Courts.

DIFC Wills Registry offers the following five types of Wills:

DIFC Full Will

DIFC Financial Assets Will

DIFC Guardianship Will

DIFC Property Will

DIFC Business Owners Will

I can assist you with drafting a Will that ensures certainty for the future of your loved ones

For non-Muslim expats, the DIFC presents a unique opportunity to secure the future of valuable assets, preventing any type of intervention or circumvention by other parties for all UAE assets of the expat. More importantly, it puts the testator’s mind at ease, knowing that his assets and loved ones are secured for the foreseeable future and beyond.

Requirements for DIFC Will:

The Testator must be a non-Muslim;

The Testator, Executors, Trustees and Witnesses must be of legal age under UAE laws i.e. 21 years or more.
